The DBSL would like to congratulate Dean Murray, of the dazzling Pioneers Whites, on winning the sixth and final DBSL Handicap Series event of the 25/26 Season. The event was held in Roadstone Snooker Club today. Dean made his first DBSL series final where he faced off against Clayton Cregan of Pioneers Blue.
Dean started off a great run to the final by beating Peter Conroy 2-0 in Round 1, before beating Aidan Phelan 2-1 in the last 16. Dean then progressed on through the tournament where he beat Dehna Bennett 2-0 in the Quarter Final and Tony O’Connor 2-0 in the Semi Final.
The Final was a close affair and both players were in good form as they pushed the match down to a decider. The final frame remained tight, with not much in it between them, until Dean managed to build a 27 lead up to, and including the green, incorporating a fantastic positional shot on the brown to track the last red along the way. Clayton fought hard to get the snooker he needed but finally Dean pot brown and then blue to take the frame, match and title.
On the other side of the draw, Clayton beat Paddy Smullen 2-0 in Round 1 and Michael Kearns 2-0 in the Last 16. Clayton then went on to beat a tough Ivor Fitzpatrick 2-1 in the Quarter Final and Brendan Thomas 2-0 in the Semi Final.

Ivor Fitzpatrick got the highest break of the day, 62.
