DBSL would like to wish Roadstone A a huge congratulations on winning the 2025 Dublin Club Championships. The event was successfully held jointly between Roadstone Snooker Club and Pioneers Snooker Club.
At the Roadstone venue, Roadstone C qualified top of their group, and proceeded to the semi final stages along with group runners up, Roadstone A. Meanwhile, at the Pioneers venue, the two home teams Pioneers C and Pioneers A fought hard to qualify group winners and runners up respectively.
The first semi final commenced at the Roadstone Venue where Roadstone A faced Pioneers C. The Pioneers got off to a great start with Daniel Brcko beating Daniel Merrigan 2-0 to put Pioneers into the lead. Roadstone A hit back very hard on the other three tables with Stephen Merrigan beating Peter Conroy and Johnny Farrell beating Mark Dunne, followed by a victory from Brendan Murphy over Andrew Harvey, to take Roadstone A to the final.
The second semi final saw Pioneers A getting off to a strong start with Andrew Doherty beating Tony Kenny, and Kevin O’Brien beating Lenny Malone, both 2-0. Brian Mc Phee of the Pioneers A narrowly beat Robert Kenna of Roadstone C 2-1 to take the Pioneers A to their second consecutive final in this event.
The final between Roadstone A and Pioneers A brought the following match ups:
Table 1 – Daniel Merrigan v Andrew Doherty
Table 2 – Brendan Murphy v Joey Kenny
Table 3 – Stephen Merrigan v Kevin O’Brien
Table 4 – Johnny Farrell v Brian Mc Phee
Roadstone A once again got off to a strong start with Daniel Merrigan beating Andrew Doherty 2-0 on Table 1. Pioneers A managed to level the scoreline 1-1 when Joey Kenny completed a 2-0 victory over Brendan Murphy on Table 2.
Over on Table 3, Roadstone’s reliable and formidable captain Stephen Merrigan came back from 1-0 down to beat Pioneer’s captain Kevin O’Brien 2-1, to take his team to an overall 2-1 lead across the tables.
Drama was surely heating up on Table 4 as Brian McPhee of Pioneers A also came back from 1-0 down to beat Johnny Farrell 2-1 and take the overall final to a level 2-2 draw. The match was then to be decided in a nail biting one frame shoot out decider.
Brian Mc Phee chipped away at the beginning of the decider and looked in control as he took a good lead over Johnny Farrell. But at 42-6 down, Johnny produced a bit of magic for his team when he compiled a solid break of 64 to seal the win for Roadstone A.
The highest breaks on the day of 66 and 64 was achieved by Johnny Farrell of Roadstone A.
DBSL would like to thank Tournament Director Niall Lawless, at the Pioneers Snooker Club and Stephen Merrigan, at the Roadstone Snooker Club, for their fine hospitality throughout the day.
